Eleven damage leaves a DC of 10
Under the D&D 2024 rules, taking damage while concentrating calls for a Constitution saving throw. The DC is 10 or half the damage taken, rounded down, whichever is higher, to a maximum of 30. Thus, 11 damage halves to 5 after rounding, producing DC 10. Damage taken and saving throw difficulty are different numbers.
We use the general rule in the official 2024 glossary. Review the character’s specific traits and effects with the table if they add another condition.
One example with two possible outcomes
This fictional example starts with a concentrating character taking 11 damage already resolved, without a special rule changing the save. The applicable saving throw modifier is +2 for this exercise.
A d20 roll of 8 totals 10: it meets the DC and Concentration continues. A roll of 7 totals 9: it fails and that Concentration effect ends. Neither outcome restores the 11 lost Hit Points. We are not calculating Resistance or other prior damage reductions here.
With 23 damage already resolved, half is 11.5; rounding down gives 11, higher than 10. The DC in that separate scenario is 11. Do not round to 12 or copy 23 as the difficulty.
Keep four records for four questions
- Damage taken after resolving its modifiers.
- Concentration DC calculated for that damage.
- Constitution saving throw total with applicable modifiers.
- Whether the Concentration effect continues or ends.
Retain the arithmetic in a session note. Do not add Proficiency merely because this is a save: check whether the character has Constitution saving throw proficiency. This guide assumes no modifier outside the stated example.
Where your Windows sheet fits
The official DnD Dynamic Sheet facts document Hit Points, abilities, proficiency, notes, spells and custom counters. Use character data and notes to support the manual calculation. We do not claim the app detects every damage source, calculates this DC or ends a spell automatically.
Before continuing, review the effect’s state with the DM and update the appropriate record. A Concentration save does not replace updating Hit Points; a marked counter is not itself proof that a roll happened.
Choose for the workflow you need
DnD Dynamic Sheet is a paid Windows beta focused on the player’s character sheet, without a shared tabletop or campaign management. Initial activation requires Internet and characters are saved on the computer. Review the recordings and scope on the product page before buying.
